Yur in Canada EH!

This is one of our more realistic type bears. It is a nice dense Mohair that has a black backing so, it lends itself nicely to polar bears.
The head is articulated and is assembled in 3 pieces. It let's the head be moved around, and it gives a very natural feel to the bear.
I feel much safer with one this size, I don't think I want to be outside with a full grown one.
We also do polar bears in string mohair. (I know ,you now, know that I love string mohair) Say that 5 times fast. But tell Mike you want to see it in string....I dare you!

I'm a Little rusty!

This is one of our smaller bears. He is just pretty much hand sized. But with this much attitude, you wouldn't want him any bigger.
He does look a little on the grouchy side. I always think he's saying "What you lookin' at?"
Mike loves to needle sculpt and make wee toes or big toes...I'm thinking he has a foot fetish as well. The mohair is a string distressed finish. I have a thing for string mohair. We did this bear in green and he reminded us sooo much of the Grinch.
It is so much fun to be able to take something flat and lifeless and turn it into something that not only emotes feeling but elicits it as well.
To Adopt Rusty you can contact us at grizzleydetails@gmail.com His adoption fee is 80.00 plus shipping.

The Ice Princess

This bear was really sweet. I wanted to actually keep her. But I have to remember they are not human and would quickly overrun the house. Much like my human children already do.
But that's ok, she went to a home where I can visit her.
The fur is a really rich Cranberry, so she really reminded me of Christmas. The kids have gotten into the act and are constantly telling us what to design and how to do it. Maybe we should let them see that although it is fairly easy to do, some skill is required.
The count down to Christmas is on and we need 3 bears for under the tree, we'll see if they get done. Mike is working on a really funky bear? right now. We will have to see how he turns out.

Here's Arnie!

This guy is one of our favorite patterns. It is our Arnie although, he looks different in every fur. This is one of the few patterns that we found. Everything else is all brand new. But this is a favorite both to us and to our customers.
No matter how he gets done his foot always droops over. I happen to have a little foot fetish happening... I mean look at those sweet toes. :) Not to meantion the blue eye's. Swoon.

Arrrh, there be a rat amoung us!

Posted by Picasa
Inside every Teddy bear lurks a rat just trying to get free..... not just any rat, a pirate rat.
This poor little guy was our first bear off the assembly line, I don't know what it was, the fur or the pattern but he was no beauty. I don't even have a before picture he was just headed to the reject pile.
Then the idea struck Mike, why does he have to be a bear when it is so obvious his inner rat wanted to shine.
So Mike went to work causing this transformation from Bear to rat, (and you thought David Copperfield was the master of illusion)
First his limbs went from standard joint to a button joint, much better for hoisting the colours! He received hand colouring or tattoo's if you prefer but looking a little like spots. Never go to a drunken tattoo artist in Tortuga, savey!
He was given some wild dreads and a bandanna, but I think he still needs a piece of eight.
I think he is has reached his full rat potential.
Thanks for stopping to see our motley crew.

The Bears are in da house.

Hello and welcome to my new blog.
To let you know a little info about us, I have always been a Teddy Bear Collector. I have many of the furry little things all over the house, mostly artist bears and Steiff and of course a selection of vintage bears.
I started making teddy bears back in my teens. I gave it up for awhile as I attended collage. Then I met Mr. Right and he being a very creative fellow wanted to learn the trade. We have made many bears together. We have been written up in British, Canadian and American Magazines, and won several awards at different shows and conventions. Our bears live all over the world!
Our Teddy Bear days came to an end when I developed Breast Cancer. I just didn't have the ability to sew any more. (paper crafts took up my time and became my Therapy) I have a stamping blog as well.
But as we were going through the attic the other week, we came across a plethora of supplies and boom we were back in the biz.
We are booked into a show in April 2011 in Toronto, Canada.
This is where I will be sharing our creations. But so far Mike is the only one actively engaged in the task at hand, but I will soon be sewing as well. All Bears are original patterns, hand stitched, needle sculpted and hand coloured works of art.
Please check back to see new and original bears added weekly.
